The Face of Budget Cuts

As Republicans attempt to slash federal programs by $61 billion, U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is planning to speak Thursday, February 24 at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS) — a place hundreds of students who would feel these cuts personally. We started this photo series to put a human face on the problem. Literally.

All week, the HKS Progressive Caucus has been photographing students, faculty, and others on campus who have been involved in Americorps, Teach for America, renewable energy, community health centers, job training, nuclear nonproliferation, and myriad other programs on the chopping blocks. We want Cantor to know that these cuts are not just faceless dents in devious “spending.” They are central to the lives and livelihood of those in the HKS community.

Please check out our photos to see just a few of the faces that will be harmed if Republicans get their way on the federal budget. And click here for a list of some of these cuts.
